Dumped baby bunnies in bid for homes

A group of 5 baby rabbits found dumped in a cardboard box earlier this month in Grimsby town centre are now looking for new homes. The young bunnies were taken to the nearby Blue Cross animal hospital in the Lincolnshire town after being discovered by a passerby. Despite being freezing cold and terrified, they were all healthy. The rabbits are thought to be about eight weeks old and have been named after characters from the film Madagascar – Melman, Sonya, King Julien, Mort and Gloria. They are now in the safe hands of students studying animal care at Grimsby Institute who rehome cats and rabbits from the college on behalf of Blue Cross. Tracy Nicholson, Vet Nurse at Blue Cross animal hospital in Grimsby said: “We couldn’t believe our eyes when we opend the box to find these shivering baby bunnies. They were terrified and if they had been left out for the night it is likely they would have died from the freezing temperatures.
