The Season Kicks Off!

07-04-2017

Following a fantastic British Eventing JAS and JT winter series, we were excited for the 2017 eventing season to start. And what a start it’s been; Emily King won the Open Novice at Tweseldown riding Walitze F Vejgard with one show jump down, following several placings over the past week, and Goergie Spence was second in the same class riding Captain Future. At Oasby Sharon Hunt was tenth on Veyga in the Open Novice and tenth on Loughnatousa Venture in the Novice whilst our Marketing Manager, Jane Buchan, is getting her eye back in with her home-produced horse, Carleton, having competed at Isleham and Popular Park in the Open Novice classes. Phoebe Locke has also had a good start to the season with a double clear at Oasby in the BE100 and Open Novice riding Graveur DHI and Union Fortunus, respectively, whilst Emily Gilruth was fourth in the Novice with a double clear riding Mullentine Royal Clover. Meanwhile, overseas show jumper, Jess Mendoza, finished in fifth place in the 4* Grand Prix in Florida with Toy Boy and Laura Renwick had a double clear with Top Dollar VI in the Grand Prix and won the 7-year-old class with Alothain de Blondel in Vilamoura. Team Charles have also had success with Harry coming second in the 3* 1m40 class at the Hipodromo Costa del Sol riding Valking De Zance and finishing seventh behind his father Peter, who won the 1m50 class riding ABC Qauntum Cruise. In Opglabbeek Jay Halim has had several placings including a second in the 1m35 class with Gillian Livock’s KL Leona and on home soil Sammy Borthwick wiped the board at Aintree International winning the Discovery, 1m15 and 1m20 riding Forca Twente, Faber and April Love, respectively. It’s been a busy few weeks and we look forward to bringing more updates and results from the Baileys team as the season progresses. We’re also counting down the days until the Winter Dressage Championships!
