This “Extra” coarse blade is engineered to provide extra space between the teeth of both the upper and lower plates to enable the clipping of thick or dirty coats.
Heavily “dunged” coats may be best clipped using a shearing head equipped with a standard cutter and comb blades which has fewer cutter blade teeth (Generally 4 teeth)
