Streptomycin is used to treat many bacterial infections for example, tuberculosis, brucellosis, mycobacterium avium complex, tularemia, burkholderia infection, endocarditis and plague. This antibiotic is used in combination therapy. It may be given by injection into a vein or muscle, or orally. Inhaled use is also possible. Inhaled treatment may be done using nebulized formulations, which are more effective than dry powder preparation.
