An individual of the CXC family of chemokines is interleukin 8. This is owing to the amino terminal region having two conserved cysteine residues that are only one amino acid apart from one another. CXCL15 is created from a precursor of 99 amino acids, which is subsequently changed into the mature form of 72 amino acids.
