Monocyte chemotactic protein 3 (MCP3) is now called chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 7 (CCL7), it is purified from human osteosarcoma cell line. Due to the fact that it contains two adjacent N-terminal cysteine residues in its mature protein, it is classified as a CC chemokines subfamily member. It has the ability to bind and activate a large number of diverse inflammatory cell types via the interaction with multiple leukocyte receptors as well as it’s own receptor.
