Interleukin-18 (IL-18) which is also referred to as interferon-gamma-inducing factor (IGIF) and is a non-glycosylated 24 kDa polypeptide which is known to lack any classical signal sequence. IL-18 is a cytokine which is member of the IL-1 superfamily and is primarily produced by macrophages and many other cells.
