Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is a glycoprotein which is secreted by basophil cells, located in the anterior pituitary. It is just like to other glycoproteins being made up of an alpha and beta subunit. The immunological and biological properties of these glycoproteins is determined solely by the uniqueness of the beta subunits whilst the alpha subunits remain very similar structurally.
