The FLOT1 gene encodes the 427 amino acid flotillin-1 protein, which is broadly expressed across human tissues but found at especially high levels in brain, heart, and hematopoietic cells. It contains a flotillin domain through which it can form oligomeric complexes with the related protein flotillin-2 within lipid rafts.
